Welcome to the NPC list Kaster, owner of Kaster’s Magik a magicks shop and book store with furry, magical and non-furry, non-magical animal friends around every corner. A great place to get your cards or palm read for a small fee {DMs the Fee is up to you based on your table play}. Provided self improvement and personal fulfillment is your goal Kaster’s Magik is the place to go. With the assistance of their emotional support cat [an orange tabby named Cadet] they can help you find or make whatever you’re looking for!
Kaster is a nonbinary [They/He pronouns] high elf, if asked in elvish; “What stars do you dream under” [What is your sexuality] they will respond; “I dream under starlight if I’m not dreaming under shadows” [I’m Abrosexual**]. They lived as a common family of 5 with their mother, father and 2 younger brothers, each of whom has a cat of their own. Kaster’s parents started a cat fostering home after their children grew up and left home. Kaster is a retired adventurer, a sage with the knowledge of the stars and divination. Their life's work is a series of tomes explaining the relation between your star chart and your life path, in future times he hopes to include how divination of all kinds can help you travel further down your path with fewer unnecessary twists and turns. He’s also written several short stories and relishes in the 15 novels he’s written about his time adventuring as a bard-barian. Many of these tales tell harrowing stories of emotional betrayal and permanent bodily damage that brought them to the life they live today.
Often when asked about specific subjects they may seem unsure or nervous, provided they know what you’re talking about they will answer you {DMs it is up to you what plot points Kas does or does not know}, but they have intense social anxiety and unless Cadet is within range to ease their anxiety they may struggle to speak [this can manifest in the form of a stutter jumbled speech and words seeming to just fall out of his head]. If they are distracted -a simple and common occurrence- he may lose track of the conversation or go on a rant about anything that comes to mind related or unrelated to the topic.
If the party chooses to ask Kaster to join their party and successfully convince them, their party gains not only Kaster, but their favorite tarot deck and Kaster’s ESA Cadet in specially fashioned; studded, leather armor. Any party members younger than the age of a teen must make a natural 20 animal handling check to pet Cadet, otherwise he is a safe and very friendly cat. Kas has spent several years training Cadet to be walked on a leash [Attached to his armor to prevent choking on his collar] or not be restless in a side satchel he can nap in while traveling.
